He owned land on 14 November 1796 in Orange Co., NC.292 "Page 12, 14 Nov 1796, Phillip Foust of Sullivan County, Tennessee, to Barnet Clap of Orange, seventy pounds, 200 acres, on waters of Great Allamance, begon at a white oak a cor. of his deeded land, N45E 1 ch. 50 lk, to a post oak John May's cor., his line N45W 24 ch. to a post oak, N45E 31 ch. 50 lk. to a hicory (sic) on John Albright's line, S45E 38 ch. to a black oak, N45E 3 ch. to a hicory (sic), S45 E 22 ch. to a hicory (sic), S45W 36 ch. to a hicory (sic) on his deeded land, N45W 36 ch. to beginning; signed: Phillip Foust, Cathana (X) Foust, witness: "Note the 2 signers names are in dutch which I don't understand, JR"; proved May Term 1797 (witness not names), Delvd. John Hufman." Barney owned land on 16 March 1798 in Orange Co., NC.293 "Page 223, 16 March 1798, Peter Hufman of Orange to Barnett Clap of same, sixty pounds, 30 acres, on waters of Great Allamance, begin at a stake on bank of Alamance, S45W 15 1/2 ch. to a red oak Barnet May's cor., N45W 15 ch. to a White oak May's cor., N45E 10 1/2 ch. to a hicory, N45W 15 1/2 ch. to a white oak, N45W 2 ch. to a beach on bank of creek, down meanders to beginning; signed: Peter Hufman; witness: Jacob Wilhoit, Ancil Melton; proved May Term 1798 by Wilhoit, delivered Tobias Smith." He died in 1808 at the age of 67. Listed as being associated with the Regulator movement in Orange Co, NC - a Whig.

Brick Church records say she had 13 children, 6 living at the time of her death.

Anna Margaret "Polly" CLAPP was born about 1759 in Orange Co., NC. She died on 22 February 1844 at the age of 85 in Giles Co., VA. Birth date of 1757 from Jerry L. Jones, 648 Allegheny Ave., Staunton, VA. on a family group sheet of Adam Lugar. Anna is buried in William's Cemetery, Craig Co., VA.

Phoebe CLAPP was born in 1760.188 No real proof she is Barney's daughter.

Barnhardt "Barney" CLAPP Jr. was born on 17 January 1764 in Orange Co., NC.295 DAR Patriot index has birth: NC 17 Jan 1764. He owned land on 29 October 1798 in Orange Co., NC.296 "Page 258, 29 October 1798, Jacob Straeder of Orange, to Barnet Clap, Junr., of same, seven hundred dollars, 200 acres, Henry McCulloh, Joseph Robertson & Joseph Wilcox to Malachia Isley 14 September 2nd year of George III to Philip Foust 16 February 1764, Begin at Daniel May's cor., N45E p. to a W. O., S45E 192 p. to a stake on Joseph Bogg's line, 145W along his line 98 p. to his cor., N45W 100 p. to a stake, S45W 142 p. to Greson's C., N45W along Gesson's line 92 p. to Daniel May's other cor., N45E 200 p. to a stake to beginning; signed: Jacob Strader; witness Hard Hawkins, John Cook; proved November Term 1799 by Hard Hawkins." He signed a will on 10 October 1838 in Orange Co., NC.297 Barney (x) Clap, wife a legatee, name not stated. Son: Emanuel, land on Bever Creek. Daughter Polly "of unsound mind" "Daughter Penny John Lacy's (?) Lue's (?) wife". (The clerks writing is very poor). There were Lacy and Lue families near.) Daughters: "George Clap and wife Barbara, Frederick Sherer ? and wife Peggy, John Lue ? and wife Penny, Ceatty ? Clap wife of Isaac Clap, Sally Kime ?. John Lowe and wife Nelly." Executors: sons David Clap and Emanuel Clap, and son-in-law John Low. Witnesses: Wm. Smith, Wm. Artz, Mich'l Holt. CODICIL dated 5 Feb 1842, names no new heirs. Barney died on 27 September 1844 at the age of 80 in Guilford Co., NC.186,295,298 DAR Patriot index: NC 27 Sep 1844. Aged 80 years, 8 months, 10 days. He was buried in September 1844 in Brick Church Cemetery, Guilford Co., NC.298 His tombstone reads, "Sacred to the memory of Barney Clapp wo departed this life Sept 17 1884 aged 80yrs, 8mo,10days. "A soldier of the Revolution""
Will proven for name at place on date.297 Will Book F 229-233 Birth date could be 10 Aug. Buried in the Brick Church Cemetery. Funeral conducted by Rev. George W. Welker. His notes state, "Barney Clapp was for many years an elder of the Brick Church. Active and influential. Kind to the poor. Hospitable. A soldier at the Battle of Guilford Courthouse." Page 569 of the DAR Patriot Index- Centennial Edition, Part 1. Will is in Will Book F page 229-233 Orange Co., NC. dated 10 Oct 1838, proved Nov Court 1844. Codicil dated 5 Feb 1842 names no new heirs. See page 208 of "Abstracts of Wills recorded in Orange Co., NC 1800-1850" by Ruth Shields. Brick Church records of 1925 has the birth date as 10 Aug. 1764.
