Robert Clapp dies at home
Rites for Farmer, 76, will be held Monday
Robert Lee Clapp, 76, widely known Decatur County farmer, died at his home two and one-half miles northeast of St. Omer ar 1:35 p.m. Friday of carcinoma. He had been ill for a year and seriously ill two months.
He was born in Tennessee October 26, 1879, the son of Alec and Phoebe Ann (Merritt) Clapp and had lived in the St. Omer community 31 years. In 1908 he was married to Ella Mae Sallings (sic) who died last February 23. Eight children survive, Delbert, St. Paul, Mrs. Fay (Cecil) Brune, Mrs. Sheldon (Opal) Wright, Raymond and Dale Clapp, all of Greensburg R.R.m Mrs. James (Edith) Harrington, Independence, Kan., Mrs Oscar (Agnes) Bate of North Rose, N.Y., and Roy Lee Clapp of near St. Paul.
Also surviving and 18 grandchildren and six brothers and four sisters. The latter are Mrs. Ethie Kuhn, this city; John C., James, Gordon and Carter Clapp, Waldron; R. T. Clapp, Manilla; Mrs. Elizabeth Feezell, Phoenix, Ariz.; Mrs. Martha M. Kitts, Luttrell, Tenn., Mrs. Myrtle Gates, Lebanon, and Milton Clapp, Greensburg R.R.
Last rites will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday at the Carmony Funeral Home in St. Paul with Revs. R. L. Kenworthy and Harry Cooke officiating. Burial will be in Star Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 7:00 this evening.
He was buried in July 1956 in Star Cemetery, Decatur Co., IN. He started farming west of Knoxville at Concord, TN. It was on Kingston Pike. They hauled an organ from Union Co. to Concord. Stella rode in the wagon & organ with Bob to concord and rode the train back to Corryton and Uncle Willett. When the family moved to Shelby Co., IN he loaded all his farm equipment, two horses and his family into a boxcar. Ella was pregnant in the Spring of 1911 with Edith and road in a rocking chair in the boxcar to St. Paul, IN. Bob, Roy and Cecil also rode in the car. — Cecil E. Brune, 99 of Greensburg , Indiana passed away on April 18, 2008 at the Oddfellows Nursing Home.
She was born on December 2, 1908 in Concord , Tennessee , the daughter of Robert and Ella (Stallings) Clapp. She married Fay Brune on March 15, 1933 in Greensburg and he preceded her in death on August 19, 1973.
She was a housewife and a member of the Clarksburg Holiness Church .
She is survived by Mrs. Richard (Marjean) Sanson of Lancaster, Ohio and sister Agnes Bate s of Taylorsville , SC.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Fay Brune; daughter, Shirley Brune; brothers, Raymond, Delbert, Roy, and Dale Clapp; sister, Mrs. Sheldon (Opal) Wright and Mrs. Edith Harrington.
A graveside service will be at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, April 22 at the South Park Cemetery with Rev. Tom True officiating.

He was a past member of the Indianapolis Aero Club, Decatur County Aero Club, a member of Adams Township Advisory Board, President of Star baptist Cemetery Association and served as deacon, Sunday School teacher, Trustee and Treasurer of Star baptist Church.
Ray served in the United States Air Force during World War II. He was a graduate of St. Paul High School, St. Paul, IN.
